Heart And Soul
Presentations for the Gospel Storyteller
By Ed Solomon
A powerful set of Gospel Presentations, based on heart touching storties that illustrate their messages without distracting or trivializing. A MUST for the serious Gospel performer who wishes to take things to the next level.
Ed Solomon has been a driving force in the storytelling magic field for years and years. Ed is very comfortable with the spooky, the profound and the reverent. We have already released two of Ed’s collections of Storytelling effects when he approached us with this book. Ed is also a devout man of faith.
At first my thought was that my old customers might find it odd subject matter, while the new customers who might come seeking it would not be as delighted by most of our other titles. Oh, but then I read it....
WOW!
As most of our supportive customers know, we have a love and soft spot for all things related to storytelling and bizarre magic. We are really happy to have people like Ron Dayton aka KOTAH, Tim Converse, Larry White, Walt Anthony, Leslie Melville, Paul Prater, Michael Diamond, Stark, Shane and Brother Shadow represented as some of the best of the best when it comes to magic with meaning.
Most of these books follow in the footsteps of Tony Andruzzi and Anthony Raven by using the storytelling medium to weave tales of darkness and mystery. Others, like Leslie Melville and Walt Anthony, use the story as a vehicle to take the audience somewhere special.
In Heart and Soul, Ed Solomon has put together some of the most moving, powerful, touching presentations of a spiritual nature I have ever read. They are presented here as storytelling for the Gospel Performer, and I must say that a quick glance HERE at the free sample should make it clear that these stories are expertly crafted, filled with emotional impact, teach The Word, and do not in any way detract from or sully the message.
And yet, in my own path as a metaphysical and generically spiritual person, I found them equally as powerful, compelling and useful. I shared several of these stories with an agnostic friend, and he too was wowed by them and felt the messages were stunningly presented and touched the heart regardless of one’s spiritual or religious history or path.
I really have to say, we have printed some books that we are overwhelmingly proud to have been allowed to share them with you, but this one really has a special place in our heart.
In Ed’s introduction he explains that as a young man, he belonged to a youth group we called the SEEKERS. Curious about the religious beliefs of his friends, they took it upon themselves to visit the various denominations in his area.
As was the nature of young people, we attended youth group meetings, prayer meetings, and of course, socialized with our friends, who attended the various churches. Often they would close the evenings with group sings around the old, out of tune upright piano in the basement. Someone always grabbed one of the others and sat down to bang out the old duet, “Heart and Soul,” which was a favorite of the musically inclined and well as those who just thought they could play. It was the memory of that old song that prompted the title of this book.
In Ed’s writings over the years, he often included a number of stories, which can be described as Gospel Magic. A number of friends who have heard his stories have encouraged me to assemble a collection of them to share, which he has done in this book. These stories have appeared individually in some of my other writings. Some of them have been sent to me by friends, some have made the rounds on the Internet for several years.
Each has been selected for this book because they have great audience appeal and really simple magic to help emphasize the moral or object lesson. It is my hope that they encourage you in your storytelling magic.
In this book, Ed has turned his talents for fashioning modern narratives towards stories to be used in presenting gospel magic effects, making use of both modern and ancient accounts. His use of scripture in novel and somewhat innovative ways makes this tome a “must have” for any gospel magician.
Regardless of an individual’s performance style or method of presentation of gospel truths utilizing sleight-of-hand skills, there is much to be studied and learned within the ideas set forth in this book. If these stories evoke some emotion in you, maybe even bring a tear to your eye, then you have been “ministered” to by one of the best.
